Children’s Church and Youth Ministry

Under the leadership of Evangelist Gillian Gittens, these young boys and girls are taught to be 

witnesses of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Evangelist Gittens teachings of reverence and sincerity are a 

deliberate direction taken so that these young people may impact their generation and parents alike. 

The mission of the Children’s Church Ministry is to disciple young boys and girls that they may be bold 

and unashamed in the pursuit of Christ. The youth department seeks to bring about spiritual guidance 

for direction and purpose in the lives of the young people at the Calvary Baptist Church.  We seek to 

accomplish this through contemporary methods of teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ  and by 

employing methods and activities that they can relate to and appreciate.

Women’s ministry

The Women’s Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church under the direction of Evangelist Gillian Gittens seeks to bring biblical principles to women with the intention of strengthening their relationship with the Lord, their husbands and their children.

Our mission is to nurture a community of single and married women fellowshipping and worshipping in an atmosphere of holiness. This ministry seeks to bring accurate information backed by biblical principles to women so that their relationship with the Lord and their husbands and children will be sober and acceptable. Evangelist Gittens and her dedicated team of women emphasize to single women the need for spiritual attractiveness and a solid relationship with the Lord.

As new members begin their walk with Christ at Calvary, there is a need for spiritual direction, guidance and love through the ministry of discipleship. The Discipleship and Caring Ministry assists with the 

transition into the culture of the Calvary family under the direction of our beloved Pastor, Dr. Garth G. 

Gittens. This ministry is responsible for the preparation of our New Member’s Classes, Right Hand of 

Fellowship, Baptismal Ceremonies and New Members’ Banquet. The mission of the Discipleship and 

Caring Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church is to foster a welcoming spirit to new members.

Hospitality

The purpose of the Hospitality Ministry is to provide financial assistance to Calvary’s high school 

graduates entering their first year of higher education.  We also recognize students from kindergarten 

through high school for special achievements. The Hospitality Ministry of the Calvary Baptist Church 

supports the young people in their pursuit of higher education.

Media

Calvary’s Media Ministry is on the cutting edge of globalization reaching people everywhere with every technical means available. The Media Ministry, created by Pastor Gittens is now a vital and essential component of the Calvary’s ministry. The Media Ministry’s mission is to keep Calvary technology relevant in an ever-changing society by capturing revelations, relating information on the air waves and informing the community and the World that Jesus Saves.

The Media Ministry is responsible for the following:

• The Life Line with Dr. Gittens which airs on 103.9  at 8.15 am Monday through Friday

• Livestream  and live chat of our 9:30 am and 11:30 am worship services

• Production and editing of Streams Of Victory which airs every Sunday at 8:00 pm on WTVE, channel 25 local or 51 on Direct TV

• All forms of social media communication (Face Book, Instagram, Twitter, Google+, Youtub, LinkedIN and Tumblr)

 

Men’s Ministry

Integrity and commitment are key components to the development of the men of God in today’s society.  The Men’s Ministry under the leadership and guidance of Pastor Gittens explores what it means to be a good husband, good father, and good spiritual leader at home, work and in the community.Our mission as men of God is to learn how to take our rightful place in our home, church and community.  Please join the men every Saturday morning at 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. to receive this invaluable training.

Missions

In July of 2010, Calvary Baptist Church Missions Ministry undertook the challenge to venture into the southern region of Africa – Harare, Zimbabwe.  Their vision and purpose was to provide Clean Water to our brothers and sisters in Africa.  The Missions Ministry embarked upon their journey to  raise funds and create awareness of their plight to secure a water well  in the largest city of Zimbabwe.

Harare is the largest city and capital of Zimbabwe.  It has an estimated population of 1,6000,00 with 2,800,000 in its metropolitan area (2006)  Harare is the site of the University of Zimbabwe, the largest institution of higher learning in Zimbabwe.

Over 425 people have died of cholera across the country and a total of 11,071 suspected cases had been reported, since the current outbreak began.  Cholera is a highly contagious, but treatable disease that causes severe diarrhea and vomitting that can kill in hours.  The lack of clean water in Harare, Zimbabwe continues to be a great concern.  People throughout the country carry containers searching for water, while others have resort to digging wells in their yards in the hope of finding water.  As a result, Government offices have closed down due to a lack of water and sanitation in the buildings.

Water is a necessity that we take for granted each day.  For SOME it is a HOPE!

Calvary Baptist Church Missions Ministry together with the support of their Pastor, Dr. Garth G. Gittens, hopes to drill a water well  in Harare, Zimbabwe each year. It costs only $8,000 US.  Help us succeed in our Mission.

Music

Under the vision of Calvary, the Fine Arts Ministry showcases talent through music, dance, drama and much more. Driven by excellence and anchored by commitment, this ministry adds to the worship experience at Calvary making it life changing and refreshing as members of all ages work together in unity as we move forward fulfilling the mandate for the 21st century and beyond. The mission of the Fine Arts Ministry is to minister to God’s people through music, dance, and drama.

Pastors Aide

The Pastor’s Aide Ministry seeks to cushion the rigors of ministry for the Pastor as he gives selflessly to the competing needs of those who surround him daily.  We ensure that special recognition is given to Pastor Gittens  and his family. The Pastor’s Aide also tend to the particular issues that occur every Sunday and other ministry days presented including ministering to his guest, families and visiting ministers.

Seniors Ministry

The purpose of the Seniors’ Ministry is to provide a caring environment for camaraderie and enrichment for the seasoned men and women of church membership.  Special events are organized for the sharing of resources and information that will enhance the lives of and educational opportunities.
